Emails get lost when time shift sending with Send Later add-on

upsetrobotThis blog post in German languageWith my Server-Installation of unofficial (by FRG) en-US SeaMonkey 2.50a1 (NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:53.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/53.0 Build 20161211141438 (Default Classic Theme) on German WIN7 64bit I observe some problems with Send-Later-Addon. First my suspect was that there only is a problem that time shift sent emails will not become copied into Sent Folder; works fine if I use [Send Now] for sending immediately. But the problem seems to be more serious, today all my time shift test emails did not reach sender, they are lost. Currently I can’t tell whether the problem only affects time shift sending or whether there is a deeper problem in the send process.

I did my tests only with a POP3 email account.

As long as there is no real knowledge concerning the circumstances I recommend not to use those latest Trunk builds for sending (important) Emails.

  1. Reason for the problem is not a bad interaction with other add-ons, the problem persists if Send Later is the only active add-on.

    • My first analysis was wrong!

Currently it seems that all Emails reached the recipients. But the used SeaMonkey seems to be rather unreliable. Sometimes (always for time shift sending) sent emails will not appear in Sent Folder before a relaunch of SeaMonkey. And sometimes Get Messages does not work (or the result is not visible in Inbox) before relaunch. All this is rather worrying, unfortunately I currently do not have enough time for more investigation.

But it seems that these problems are not caused by Send Later. The add-on only demonstrates SeaMonkey issues.

    • An additional strange observation:

      1+1+1+1+1+1+1+1 is?

      0?

      0?

      or 2?

      or 2?

I observed this issue with a Newsgroup more investigation will be required!

      • With news.aioe.org I see more such “wrong counting” issues than with news.mozilla.org or IMAP.
But TB has no problems at all.
